Design of a children’s bookstore

This former sex-shop was transfered into a childrens bookstore, a very funny switch. We were given the request to create a child friendly space with ample space for books, space to facilitate small child-orriented activities and a counter with a coffeemachine and a small kitchen. This came with a very tight budget. We created a 3D shape that was easy to fabricate from cnc cut mdf. To remain cost-efficient we only painted the big parallel overhanging shapes. In the windows two cosy seats were created, for children to hang and read, an inviting view from the street. The lights in the window are open books on a transparant perspex sheet.
